The Mel Gibson “Passion of the Christ” movie is a gross, violent and blasphemous depiction of Jesus focusing mostly on his beating and suffering. The movie does not depict the Biblical view from the very beginning of the movie putting words in the mouth of a fake Jesus played by James Caviezel – even portraying Jesus in such a manner that I believe is a clear violation of the commandment to make no image of God.
This movie is rated R but the Bible does not give a rated R depiction of Christ’s suffering, this movie is based upon some mystical nun’s (Emmerich) view of Jesus by Mel Gibson’s own admission. If you do not believe me just start at the beginning of the movie with the weird female version of Satan (with a weird demonic baby later) plus the introduction of a snake into the Garden of Gethsemane – straight from that mystic’s teachings.
This is a situation where we NEED to, “throw the baby out with the bathwater” that is the demon baby who is a man actor in the arms of a woman who is a porn actress with a shaved head and shaved eyebrows playing an androgynous Satan – what could be wrong? This Satan and demon baby are seen throughout the movie until the end when this Satan is having a temper tantrum at Jesus’ resurrection.
Several Christians I know are trying to underscore the ‘positive’ points where they follow scripture in this movie to justify watching it and some endorsing it – to those Christians, need I remind you it only takes a little leaven to destroy the lump!? Do you not see the irony of the ‘leaven’ in this movie when we are talking about the Passover – Christ our Passover Lamb!?
Matthew 16:12 “Then understood they how that he bade [them] not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”
