“Prayer girds human weakness with divine strength, turns human folly into heavenly wisdom, and gives to troubled mortals the peace of God.” From C. H. Spurgeon, Morning and Evening: Daily Readings 1896. For October 11, 2024.
To say what Spurgeon did another way personalizing it, “Prayer infuses human weakness with divine strength, turns my foolishness into heavenly wisdom, turns my troubled mortal soul toward the peace of God.” It is nothing of myself, as I lay flat in the dirt because I know I am – His! We know as Spurgeon said, we are barren, empty vessels but by prayer we can find strength by the Holy Spirit to face whatever the day brings.
Whether the day brings great loss or great gain – the Christian knows we belong to the Maker!
Prayer is our sure line of communication the world cannot comprehend outside of Jesus! Prayer without Christ is beyond empty and void of hope because it is without faith! Why!? Because God’s great love and mercy cannot be known without the prayer of faith first!
There is no spark of the divine within us without first our Father putting it in us! A candle cannot light itself!
We must first empty ourselves of self – not a blanking of your mind as others teach! We must realize that we are no good of ourselves, no light is within us no matter how good you think you are! If you think you are a good person without religion that is your problem, and I know it was mine! We are prideful creatures, but this is the point – we are ungrateful creatures devoid of understanding without the Holy Spirit!
I pray for my readers this morning that the faith I speak of comes ONLY by the Word of God and His sovereign choices – may your candle be lit now and may you pray by the infusing power of the Holy Spirit that comes only from God! You too can know He is the source of true power by His love!
Yes, what is impossible for you can be true! You can know more joy and peace than your mere empty soul can contain! How do I know this!? Because I am a broken vessel that bursts forth with that power and hopes it pierces your empty and dark soul in ways you never imagined!
Psalms 143:6-8 “I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah. 7 Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. 8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.”
